Glenwood Homes Featured in Local Tour - May 2006

Two our our Glenwood residents displayed their homes in the local SAND Community tour of Homes on May 20 and 21, 2006.

Chris and Amy at 486 Hamilton

Chris and Amy's home is pictured above in the center of the image. While some people might think that buying a new house in Glenwood Park would mean being able to move in and get comfortable right away, Chris and Amy decided they could make a beautiful house even better. So they got with their designer Shane to choose new colors, new tile work in the kitchen, and new furniture to match their tastes with their new home. While one of the most notable features of the home is the front turret window, you’ll also be beguiled with the coffered ceilings in the den and the textured walls in the front parlor. Along with their Burmese mountain dog Roxy, Chris and Amy enjoy the in-town feel of their neighborhood and the proximity to downtown and the park only a few doors down the street.

Paul and Kevin at 477 A Bartram Street

Paul, Kevin and their toy poodle LaLa chose their flat in Glenwood Park because Duluth is just too far away. Well, that, and because the new Romanesque-style building was an Earthcraft environmentally friendly home in a fabulous new development only a few minutes away from Oakland Cemetery, where Kevin works. Paul, an employee for Green Street Properties, watched the development come together and knew a good thing when he saw it. The second-story flat (with a garage underneath) is a housing style popular in places like London and Chicago, with soaring 10-foot ceilings, nine-foot doors, granite surfaces, and wireless internet. The trio loves the old-fashioned building style with the modern conveniences, and are considering adding a balcony in the future.
