Renee Propes - Commander in Zone 6

Major Renee Propes, a native Atlantan, started her career with the Atlanta Police Department in 1984 after graduating from Georgia State University and finishing at the top of her class from the Atlanta Police Academy.

Major Propes first served as a Patrol Officer in Zone 3. She moved on to work as a member of the Tactical Anti-Crime Unit, which is a decoy and stake-out unit. Then in 1989, she became a founding member of the Red Dog Unit, and was then promoted to Investigator and worked the Narcotics Unit. She then returned to Zone 3 in 1993 as Sargeant, and then moved on to work in the Auto Theft Unit. In 1996, she was promoted to Lieutenant and became the Assistant Commander of the Airport Precinct, which included commanding the Explosive Detection and Disposal Team. She served as a Venue Commander during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Later, she became the Commander of the Crimes Against Children Unit then the Underground Precinct Commander. In early 2004, she became the Assistant Commander of Zone 2 and in December of 2004, she was promoted to Major and assumed her present assignment as the Zone 6 Commander.
