At 22, I left Africa and moved to South Florida, with only $700 in my pocket and almost no English skills. An accident five years later changed my life forever. While stepping out of the shower one afternoon, I slipped, fell, and broke my neck. After surgery and more than a year of grueling therapy, I regained all of my motor function and nearly all of my range of motion. The whole ordeal left me deeply aware of how important physical fitness is to an active, healthy life, and profoundly appreciative of my amazing therapists.
In my “first” career, I worked as a restaurant manager and sommelier. Eventually, though, I decided to follow my heart and help others achieve their fitness goals, much as my therapists has helped me. After becoming certified as a personal trainer, I began working with older clients facing life-changing physical challenges, from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease to knee and hip replacement surgery. Then, as now, my training emphasized core strength, balance, and flexibility.
In 2006, I moved to Atlanta and began Fit for Life, a personal training practice that is designed around your goals, interests, and needs – including the need to laugh and enjoy your training routine! My clientele is usually diverse -- all ages, backgrounds, professions, and goals. Some have been with me for six-plus years, and others come and go as their needs dictate. All enjoy working out in a private studio where they can completely focus on their workouts.
