APD Active Shooting Training Exercise at Zoo Atlanta

An annual training event that has been occuring for many years will be in Zoo Atlanta late afternoon and early evening on 3/1/2022. There will be APD officers, fire, and EMS around the area. Training event locations are chosen where large events or gatherings occur. Examples are the Georgia Aquarium, Lenox Mall and a MARTA station. Here is a statement from Zoo Atlanta.

From Zoo Atlanta:

"Dear neighbors and community partners,

We wanted to make members of our Grant Park community aware that on Tuesday, March 1, the Atlanta Police Department will be conducting an active shooting training exercise at Zoo Atlanta. Tuesday afternoon and evening, neighbors may see numerous police and fire vehicles, equipment, apparatus, and actors, and may hear loud noises such as bangs, all associated with the training. These activities will not impact the comfort or safety of the Zoo Atlanta animal population.

The training exercise should not impact car or foot traffic on Cherokee Avenue or other streets bordering the Zoo. However, for security reasons, please avoid recreational activities in and around the entry plaza of the Zoo Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Thank you for your cooperation as we assist the Atlanta Police Department in conducting this important training."
